I had spd and pregnancy diabeties to and Nikki is a wonderful source of information!!!
she really allayed my fears and explained a lot to me

The growth scans are only a guide Luke was 3lb lighter than the scan done 4 days before he was born, so don't worry yourself unnecessarily if the numbers are high.
I'm a confirmed fully paid up chocoholic so sticking to the diet was hard.
I spoke to the diabetic nurse on a monday and wednesday and saw her on a friday with my readings and she would adjust them on the phone - at the start 10 was not unusual and they expect some wobbles - it takes people months to get their "proper" diabetes balanced and we get weeks to make it work with the baby having growth spurts and messing them up!
The other thing to be aware of is you start with a few units of insulin and it ramps up as you get further along - this is normal - it worried the life out of me so much I had basically stopped eating! I strated with 2 units 3 x day and ended up on 10ish 3 x day. I know nikki said this wasn't a huge amount which really helped me stop worrying about it!
Be aware of hypos mine were like what happens when my ME wobbles so I wasn't recognising them until I was at 2 which is low. I had a packet of jelly babies in the cupboard and a couple would give a sugar boost enough to bring me up then toast etc. Options hot chocolate is ok to as it is sugar/fat/carb low which I found really useful as I don't drink hot drinks and it helped the chocolate/sweet cravings
Ok will write later about birth but luke (18 wks) is screaming for attention again - been one of those days
